Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: Rs 66.65 crore provision made for Haryana
The Centre has made a provision of Rs 66.65 crore for Haryana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna for 2016-17.
This was informed in a meeting of state-level sanctioning and monitoring committee on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban, which was chaired by Chief Secretary DS Dhesi here on Thursday.
The Union government would provide Rs 40 crore, while Haryana’s share would be Rs 26.65 crore, an official spokesperson said.
The scheme would be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, nine districts, Faridabad, Karnal, Hisar, Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Gurgaon, Sonipat, Panipat and Sirsa have been included, he said.
The panel approved construction of 759 dwelling units at a cost of Rs 22 crore under the scheme for families belonging to Economically Weaker Section and Low Income Groups in Yamunanagar district, the spokesperson said.
These dwelling units would be built in 11 slum areas of Yamunanagar Municipal Corporation under Beneficiary Led Construction component of the scheme. Provision of toilet, kitchen and bathroom has been made in all houses under the project.
Rs 3 lakh would be spent on construction of each house, of which Rs 1.50 lakh would be contributed by the Centre, Rs 1 lakh by the state and the remaining Rs 50,000 would be borne by the beneficiary, he said, adding the financial assistance would be given in three instalments.
Also Rs 8.13 crore was approved to strengthen urban local bodies and undertake training and various other activities, the spokesperson said.
