HMRTC Approves Two New Metro Routes in Gurugram
Two New Metro Routes in Gurugram
Two new Metro routes in Gurugram have been approved by HMRTC. They link Golf Course Extension Road to Sector 5 and Bhondsi to the train station.
The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has approved two new Metro routes in Gurugram on Sunday. According to them, the decision will lead to a significant push for Metro rail extension in the city, bringing the system to heavily lived in neighbourhoods and tying them into important economic districts.
The 57th board meeting of HMRTC in Chandigarh, which was presided over by chief secretary TVSN Prasad, approved the two Metro routes on August 6: Bhondsi village to Gurugram train station and Golf Course Extension Road to Sector 5.
A senior company official stated, “HMRTC will soon hire consultants to prepare detailed project reports for the two routes,” under the condition of anonymity.
According to the source, the first proposed route would be 17 km long and travel through Vatika Chowk, Subash Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Sadar Bazar, and the Gurugram bus terminal. It would go from Bhondsi village to the Gurugram train station. According to the officer, this route will mostly follow Sohna Road and connect to the already approved Metro extension from Millennium City Centre Metro station at the Gurugram railway station as well as the projected Delhi-Gurugram-Alwar RRTS line at Rajiv Chowk.
The second route, meanwhile, will run 13 kilometres and connect Sector 5 to Golf Course Extension Road. Along the way, it will stop at several locations, including Atul Kataria Chowk, Signature Tower crossing, Rana Pratap Chowk, and Millennium City Centre Metro station. The official stated that this path will follow Sheetla Mata Road.
Yash Sachdeva, the mobility adviser for the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), responded to a question concerning the suggested routes by saying that they are an aspect of the authority’s plan to construct a substantial Metro network throughout the city by 2031.
The city’s main populous areas and important business centres are served by these two routes. Once these routes are operational, a significant number of individuals will be connected. The RRTS network along the national highway and the ongoing Gurugram metro expansion project will be connected to the network on these routes, he said.
A significant area of the city will be connected to the metro system after the 28.5km Metro extension project from Millennium City Centre to Cyber Hub is completed, which was established by the Haryana government last year through the establishment of the Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL), a special purpose company.
